I am looking at an e.o.b. just this moment. My wife went in for her annual and we got a bill for $171.69 for blood work. Strange I thought so I looked up the code. #80050, a GHP or General Health Panel. A GENERAL HEALTH PANEL! Here's what BC/BS Anthem said. The patient's coverage does not provide for this service or diagnostic study as part of their preventive care. A general health panel is not included in preventive care? I had BC/BS year ago in Florida. I paid premiums for five years. Went to the ER once, a BC/BS approved facility and BC/BS doctors, (I even asked about the er doc), they paid fn nothing. Not one dime. OK fair enough, my ignorance but in what bizarre insurance world is the simplest, most routine blood panel not covered under preventive care? Thank you BC/BS. Thank you for taking my money and delivering absolutely NOTHING.

I have been a teacher for 20 years, and have used different companies that are offered through our benefits package. In short, I have the silver plan that looks good on paper; however, once you attempt to use it, the truth of how bad it is comes to the surface. 10 years ago, it seems that copays were less and the coverage was much better. Now co pays have risen significantly, the percentage that the customer pay has risen, and denied claims have become common place. Case in point, I tore my rotator cuff and my biceps tendon. MRI was done (which was denied coverage) and showed the extent of the injuries; the surgeon stated that that the only way the damage could be repaired was through surgery (he is a very well respected surgeon and always approaches issues conservatively). Surgery was scheduled, plans made, etc. 2 days before surgery I found out that BCBSGA does not cover the anesthesia group even though BCBSTN does??? 1 day before surgery, BCBSGA informs the surgeon's office that my surgery claim has been denied. I will be switching insurance providers this year and will be filing a complaint with my benefits managing group.

You might complain to your teacher's union and not just to your local rep but bug the local officers and give them your examples. Insurance coverage is a bargaining benefit and something the union---if it wants__can poll members and see how much of a problem this BC policy really is for members.

Unable to find providers

Signed up for BCBS during open enrollment last year. When I accepted my plan my doctors were listed as participating in the plan. Only to find out after enrolling and past the enrollment date that the Wellstar Hospital system would not be accepting the plans off the exchange. I have been struggling to find providers since that time. I think that if this happens after enrollment you shoulde be allowed to change plans. If Hospital systems are allowed to withdraw after the enrollment period ends the patient should be allowed to choose another plan as well. Currently paying for a plan that does not meet my needs. NOT COOL. Also the list of providers on the Anthem website is not accurate. It lists providers that are participating in your plan only to call and find out that they are not. And the live representative gives the same erroneous information. So disappointed with this plan. Open enrollment can't come fast enough.

I UNFORTUNATELY stopped insurance with previous insurer end May 2017, and started with BCBS of Georgia 1 June 2017. All was ok until December 2018 when BCBS suddenly and incorrectly decided they were not the primary insurance company in June 2017. Suddenly I was owing thousands to my provider as my deductible had not been met! BCBS claimed as they weren't the primary insurance company, they would not apply my deductible payments to my policy. It took months to prove them wrong. Even then they did not settle as they were obliged to - my service provider assisted me by adjusting my account. Each and every person from representatives to senior supervisors had different information and financial data on my account. Even after having proved them wrong they looked for other ways not to settle. Disgusting disorganized inefficient Record management and staff knowledge of plans and benefits SIMPLY DOES NOT EXIST.

The website info ( they are CONSTANTLY referring you to *** website) is wrong and if that is if you can get it to work at all. 2 Weeks into the year and no insurance cards. Have been given incorrect information many times by live representatives. I am convinced they only wish to take your money and make it so hard on you to find care that you will just DIE! They are not just incompetent, they are EVIL!

The single worst company to deal with

Started with BCBSGA on January 1, 2019 after one year with another insurance company. Called them in December to start the process of ordering a specialty medication that usually takes a few weeks to get authorized. Was told in December that all I would need is a current prescription from my doctor. Prescription was sent in the next day on December 20th. Tried to order the medication yesterday, January 2nd. Was told by the specialty pharmacy Accredo that the prescription was not complete because it did not include the type of injector. Doctor's office revised the perscription to include the injector. I called today to place the order and was told that the prescription needed a prior authorization (exactly was I was told would not be needed when I called in December). Now, 4 hours on the phone later, I still cannot get the order placed. Spoke with at least 8 different people at BCBS and each one has told me a different story about how to proceed. This is the worst company to deal with. They take my $750 premium payment every month without question but when it comes to getting service, they find every way in the world to delay and deny service requests.

They listed Me from a different state and still no doctor/dentists to go to

I have tried to register online my ID card number - but it gives multiple reasons as to why it would not let me. Then I called multiple times during the 2 months just to be told something is wrong with my ID card number. Well, That's why I'm calling! All I get in responses is "perfect" and "let me put you on hold", then released my call. It seems when I call the representative sounds like they just strolled out of bed. Very unprofessional. Finally, someone who stayed on the phone with me. First big ERROR, they had a different phone number listed under my ID card from a different state, a place I never lived!! Not even in the same time zone!!! Are you kidding me?! The worse ever!!! 2 months later: I am still left in the dark as to which doctors and dentists are in my plan, Why? Why cant I get professional courtesy assistant?! And I want to know how I ended up with someone else personal information. To think, who might have mine as well.

Its been over a year of back and forth between BCBS and my doctor about a prescreption. After BCBS finally sent me a letter approving the prescriptuon. I went to CVS to get it and was rejected by BCBS and the precription was under revew again..

Worst customer service and coverage possible. I mainly blame ALL of our politicians for passing obamacare then not sending it to the trash bin where it belongs but this is ridiculous! Paid 3000$ for coverage for 3 months; 14000 deductible then to find NOT covered....NO REFUND! Governemnt employer is exempt from being held responsible and bcbs couldn't care less! I was told i could resubmit everything from all doctors and pharmacies for 3 months and they would pay it!! Thank God no catastrophes happened but I suspect bcbs knows this and it's cheaper for them to backdate everything rather than refund us for services NOT rendered!!!! Can't get anyone on the phone and when you do you cannot understand them because they do not speak english! Absolutely worthless coverage and customer service!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HISS! If we ever have a choice and competition in healthcare I will avoid bcbs forever!

1. I had a miscarriage earlier this year right around the time they couldn't agree with Piedmont for medical coverage. So not only did I have to deal emotionally with the loss of my baby - I got hit with a bunch of bills and financial stress because they didn't have my back. 2. I'm pregnant again - I should be happy and I am. But now I'm stressed because I find out that pregnancy doesn't count as a pre-existing condition anymore because they're taking advantage of Trump repealing that portion of the ACA to make more money. I'm not due until next year. It's going to cost me over $8,000 to have a child. F*@# you greedy jerks - I hope you drown in your money and live an empty life with no love!

Surgery denied.....appeal process is a nightmare!!!!!

Dear BCBSofGA....... remember me?? Well, if not, let's recap...... it was determined by my doctor on October 26, 2017 that I needed a hip replacement, as all of the injections and arthroscopic surgery did not help my pain. Surgery scheduled for 12/27. 10 days before surgery, you sent me a denial letter. Pinnacle appealed it, but you still denied it. On 12/29,Pinnacle faxed 65 pages of my medical records....they were told this new appeal would take 30-45 day. On 1/30, Pinnacle called for status and you told them you had no record of the 65 page fax or the appeal. Pinnacle resent 65 page fax. Last Tuesday, 2/6, Pinnacle called your Appeals Dept and demanded to speak to a manager. Pinnacle explained what has been going on and the manager advised that they would fast track my appeal and that we would get decision within the next 7-10 days. Well, yesterday, I received a letter from you stating that you have the appeal and that I will be notified on 3/7 of your decision.......SERIOUSLY?!? What the *** is going on?!?!? This delay has affected me in so many ways!!!! My quality of life sucks!!! I'm still only sleeping 4 hours a night...... I'm walking with a cane...... I am mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted, not to mention the financial impact this will have on me IF AND WHEN you approve this. I truly hope this never happens to you or one of your loved ones, so why would you let this happen to me. Disappointedly yours, Susan Latham

BCBS of Georgia Dental Claim

When I specifically purchased my dental policy, I made sure it covered cosmetic orthodonture for my son. It has now been 5 months and BCBS of GA either does not receive the claim faxed to them per the fax number on-line, in documentation, nor given verbally from their customer service. They also cannot find the claim snail-mailed to their claim address. Spoke to an agent today and she informed me that if the claim goes to the fax number(s) given they will NOT be reviewed because (get this) a Claim Agent cannot review claims faxed or mailed to their advertised numbers. It must be faxed directly to a Claim Agent. How does a member gain access to the direct fax number and mailing address for Claim Agents to review claims???? Horrible, horrible customer service.

Insurance scamming customers

I visited my primary care doctor who is in network, then got a letter from blue cross of Georgia ( our insurance through work) stating my visit was not covered, then 2 weeks later a bill from my doctors office. I called BC of Georgia to ask what was the reason for not covering a doctor appointment? Answer was " we will resubmit your claim and get back to you in 3 weeks, meanwhile I had to notify my doctor. They later ended up covering the visit. 4 months later I visited my Obgyn (also in network, that is the reason I chose her). I then get a letter from BC of Georgia stating my visit was again not covered. Then doctors bill came so called insurance and they said exactly the same thing. I have never had this issue previously with any insurance company and my husband and myself pay over $500.00 a month for insurance. I visited 2 doctors this year and had these issues with both visits and my husband has not been so far this year. I believe this company Blue cross of Georgia is scamming its clients by 1st denying coverage to see if customer will pay. Mind you its July so we have paid blue cross of Georgia over $3500.00 so far this year and they are denying claims under $100, if this is not a scam I don't know what is.
